> Valentine's Day Activities Valentine BannerOne of the first things that come to mind when it comes to crafts and decorations is construction paper. There is always a use for it and children love to work with it. One way they can decorate for Valentine’s Day is by making a banner. Made from construction paper it’s pretty easy for them to do. Here’s how. What You’ll Need* Construction paper* Yarn or ribbon * Glue * Glitter glue * Scissors * Small stickers * Stencil * Sharp pencil * Scotch tape or push pins InstructionsThe color of the construction paper doesn’t really matter. Valentine's Day colors are usually red, pink and white, but if the children want to go with different colors to make their banner more festive then by all means let them.Be sure the stencils are of letters and pretty good size. This will make it easier for them to trace and help the banner to stand out. What the banner says is entirely up to you and your children. It might say "Happy Valentine's Day" or "Be My Valentine," whatever you and the children feel is appropriate for your home. Once you have decided exactly what it will say it’s time to cut out the letters. Have them trace around the letters with a sharp pencil. This will make cutting the letters out much easier to do. They can use different colors of construction paper for each letter to liven up their banner. When the have all the letters cut out then it’s time to decorate them. They can use small stickers and glitter glue to spruce up their letters. This will bring the banner to life and make it noticeable by all. After they are done decorating have them glue the letters on a piece of ribbon or yarn. Be sure the leave just a slight separation between each letter to make them easier to read. When the glue dries use the push pins or tape to hang the banner from the ceiling, in a doorway or on the wall. With just a little bit of guidance your children can make a Valentine banner that everyone can see and enjoy. |
