> Valentine's Day Activities Valentine Card BoxWhen kids have a Valentine party they end up with more valentine cards then anyone can imagine. It’s hard to make sure all those cards get home. Help your children make a box to carry and keep all those precious cards in. It’s pretty easy to do and a lot of fun for the children to make. What You’ll Need* Cardboard box* Markers, crayons and colored pencils * Glitter glue * Construction paper * Scissors * Glue InstructionsStart with just a regular cardboard box. The size will depend on how many cards you think your child may be receiving. Remember most children’s valentines are those small one-piece cards and a small box can hold a lot of those. Also remember that your child will be carrying this box home with them so it needs to be a size they can handle.Cover the box with construction paper. They may need your help in measuring the box and cutting the construction paper to fit. Glue the paper on all sides, the bottom and the flaps of the box. Once the glue has dried then let them go to town decorating their box. They can use markers, crayons, colored pencils, glitter glue, cutouts from construction paper and even ribbons if they like. Whatever makes them feel like it’s their own. Keep them focused on the fact this is a box to carry Valentine’s Day cards in. Boys may want to do other things besides hearts and that’s ok. Be sure the box flaps can be closed easily so none of their cards fall out on the transport home. You can even tape the flaps shut and cut a hole in the top of the box, if you’d like. One last thing, if you have a special card for them or maybe some candy, hide it in their box. Won’t they be surprised to find their first valentine when they open the box at their party? |
