Valentine Cards Made With Felt

The younger children in your home like to create things too. Unfortunately they may have a hard time using scissors, bottles of glue and other types of craft items. This is an easy way for those young children to create Valentine’s cards for the special people in their lives.

What You’ll Need

* Pieces of felt
* Glue stick
* Foam letters and shapes

Instructions

Finding pieces of felt can be pretty easy. Go to the craft or hobby store or even a department store. Many of these places sell prepackaged pieces of felt. They come in different sizes and colors but that’s okay. It’s easy for small children to work with and can be more exciting for them if the colors are varied and bright.

You can also find foam letters and shapes at these types of stores. Be sure they are big enough for small hands to work with, but not so big that they can't control them.

Glue sticks are easier for smaller hands to grasp and use than bottled glue which can be cumbersome (not to mention messy) in small hands. You don’t want to frustrate them before they ever really get started so sticking with glue sticks is the best bet.

Use the felt as the background for the card. It doesn’t have to be fancy in any way. They will be happy just being able to create something on their own. Let them pick out the shapes they would like to use to express themselves on the cards. Let them use the glue stick to apply their shapes.

If they want to place a saying on their card you may have to help them some. Find out what they would like to say then help them find the letters and place them in the right order to make their saying come to life. Again the glue stick will work when they are applying the letters.

Creating things doesn’t have to be a challenge for young hands. With the right tools and a little help they can create some of the best crafts around. Knowing they made it themselves and had fun doing so is really what counts.
