Valentine Coasters

Making gifts for people is a joy for children when their gift-giving includes a fun craft. Coming up with different ideas can be a challenge for parents. This is a cute and easy craft for children of all ages to make and give to the people they love. Doesn't every Grandma and Grandpa want their very own coaster for their juice glass? Especially a coaster with a Valentine's Day greeting from their very own little Valentine Sweetheart!

What You’ll Need

* Popsicle sticks, about 4 per coaster
* Glue
* Paint
* Paintbrush
* Stickers
* Markers
* Felt
* Scissors

Instructions

Start by taking 4 Popsicle sticks and gluing them together side by side. This will make the frame of the coaster. Be sure to allow the glue to dry completely. Using a glue stick can be much easier because it keeps the glue from spreading out onto the rest of the Popsicle.

Once the glue has dried then it’s time to decorate. Let the kids use the paint to put a basic color on the coaster. It can be any color although the colors for Valentines Day are red or pink. Let the paint dry completely before they continue to decorate.

When the paint has dried they can use the markers to make Valentine designs or sayings on the coaster. Stickers can also be applied to make a festive coaster. If stickers are used, cover them with a little bit of clear fingernail polish to ensure they don’t come off if they become damp.

Glue the felt onto the underneath side of the frame of the coaster. Cut the felt to the exact size of the coaster frame.

Giving Valentine coasters made with their own precious hands is one way of children being able to show their feelings to the people they care about. Giving them the tools to achieve this is a way you can show them how much they are loved.
