> Valentine's Day Activities Valentine’s Day Chocolate TrufflesCandy is one of the most favorite things to give on Valentine’s Day. Of course eating the candy is the most favorite thing so why not help your children make their own candy to give to friends, family and teacher. Here’s how easy it is to do. What You’ll Need* 2 lbs of unsweetened chocolate* 1/4 c of heavy cream * 1/4 lb unsalted butter * Different flavorings such as vanilla, peppermint, orange etc. * Powdered sugar * Nestle cocoa * Coconut * Red, pink and white sprinkles * Nuts * Wax Paper DirectionsBegin by melting the chocolate in the microwave. The box should have directions on how to melt that certain type of chocolate. Place the chocolate and heavy cream into a large microwavable bowl. Be sure to stir the chocolate as it melts so that it is smooth.Once the chocolate has melted, add the butter and stir until all the butter is melted and the mixture returns to a smooth consistency. Next, divide your chocolate into separate bowls to add the different flavorings. Add the flavors and stir well to make sure all your chocolates have a bit of flavor in them. Once you have all the chocolate melted and flavors added, cover the bowls and place them in the refrigerator. They need to harden slightly so it is easier to roll into balls. A couple of hours should be long enough, but if possible leave it overnight. When the chocolate has hardened use a melon baller to remove the chocolate from the bowls. Roll the chocolate into a ball. Now decorate your candy. Roll it through powered sugar, nuts, coconut, cocoa, sprinkles and so on to make them look and taste delicious. |
