> Valentine's Day Activities Valentine’s Day Decorations for KidsDecorating for all the holidays has become a big thing and Valentine’s Day is no exception. Children love to make crafts and can be pretty talented when it comes to their work. This year let them create those decorations that adorn your home. It will be fun for everyone involved. What You’ll Need* Red and pink construction paper* Letter stencils * Glue * Scissors * String * Glitter glue * Heart and Cupid templates * Heart shaped Styrofoam pieces * Wooden skewers * Yellow or brown ribbon * Red paint * Paintbrush InstructionsHave your youngsters make the heart decorations. Use the heart templates to cut out different size hearts for hanging on doors and windows. Decorate them with glitter glue or write cute little sayings on them. They can also make a heart banner to hang in your home. Have them alternate between red and pink construction paper hearts all the same size. Using letter stencils, cut out the letters to spell out Valentine’s Day, alternating between the red and pink. Glue the letters to the hearts alternating a red valentine with a pink letter and so. Place a small hole in the top of each heart and place the hearts on a string. Hang it from the wall or even the ceiling to create a Valentine’s Day banner. Don't forget Cupid’s arrows! Have them cut out Cupid using the pink construction paper and a template. For the arrows they can use the Styrofoam hearts and paint them red. Once the paint has dried push one end of a wooden skewer through the heart. Glue a piece of ribbon onto the other end of skewer. Cut the ribbon into very thin strips to create the feathers on the end of the arrow. Hang the Cupid cutouts from the ceiling or on the wall. Place the arrow on the Cupid cutout with glue or hang it next to Cupid to give the arrow a flying look. Kids can come up with some great ideas when it comes to crafts for decorating. Let them have fun and decorate your home this year for Valentine’s Day. It will be a treat for all who see them, especially the kids themselves. |
