Your Teen Can Volunteer

It’s in a teenager to want to help. By volunteering your teenager can help in many different ways. Here are a few guides in helping your teenager on the road to volunteering.

If you have an elderly neighbor who can’t get around well, let your teenager help them. They can go to the store, pickup the yard, do some house cleaning or just sit and talk with them for a little while.

Let your teenager help someone at the nursing home. So many of our elderly in nursing homes have no family to help them. Just by stopping in to say hello would brighten their day. If they need help with something, your teen can do that with very little trouble.

Let your teenager cut a neighbor’s grass or help keep an eye on a small child. Just a few minutes of kindness can make a person’s day. It will also make your teen feel needed and proud of their volunteering.

Many areas have soup kitchens, food pantries or shelters where volunteers are in constant need. Your teenager can volunteer an hour of their time to help. They can learn from this experience and meet many interesting people as well.

Just let your child volunteer to be a friend to someone in need or a worthy cause. It will instill kindness and helpfulness in your teen and gratitude in the hearts of many.
